A Legendary Concert of Heroic Proportions!

March 3, 2018

Audience Members praised the extraordinary free concert provided by the El Segundo Concert Band on Sat. March 3rd with the music of Carmina Burana concluding the concert in all of it's musical intensity and glory. The Master Composers would be proud of the entire performance which will be posted on YouTube within the next few weeks to be enjoyed for many years to come.

Epic Music Concert means a delightful and powerful evening of music our audiences already know and love. A legendary concert of heroic proportions, these Master Composers including Bernard Herrmann, John Williams, Miklos Rozsa, Eric Whitacre, Elmer Bernstein, John Mackey, and Nino Rota have given us memorable themes and background music for classic films and more. In addition, the age-old favorite Carmina Burana was featured due to its incredible popularity.

Our Composition Competition Winner, Jeremy Bell, was chosen from fourteen entries by composers who submitted their original music to be judged by our jury of experts. ESCB reviewed the original renditions to find the best new piece of music among those hoping to win the $500 prize. The premier performance of the winner’s composition was played for the first time at the Epic Music concert!

Brian Crowley, a musician in the El Segundo Concert Band has also been the Treasurer of the Board of Directors for ESCB and South Beach Music Association for many years. In honor of his service and hard work for our non-profit organization, as he retires as Treasurer, Brian received a beautiful Plaque with our heartfelt thanks. He will remain on the Board of Directors.

In addition, keeping it all in the family, Kitty Crowley, also received an honorary plaque and sincere thanks for her many years of volunteer work and service as ESCB and SBMA strive to keep the music playing in our community.

Once again, thank you so much, Kitty and Brian!

Dave Gold, President, South Bay Music Association, Kitty Crowley and Brian Crowley accepting their awards.
